Mercè was born on 1986 in Barcelona, where she currently lives. She loves being near the sea and all the cultural events that Barcelona offers. As a young child, she used to spend a lot of time drawing and painting with her Grandfather, her first art teacher. Mercè remembers clearly how she immersed herself in creating pictures and reading illustrated books growing up. In 2008, she graduated from the University of Barcelona with a Fine Arts degree. Carrying on her interest in illustration, she pursued a postgraduate course specializing in children’s and youth’s book illustration at “Escola Eina” as well as three annual courses of illustration at “Escola de la Dona”. She also attended several illustration workshops in Barcelona and Italy led by prominent illustrators in Spain. Nowadays Mercè combines her work as an illustrator while teaching art to children and teenagers. Whenever she can, she loves to spend her time in nature where she gets inspired and invigorated.
Below are some of her recent projects, La magia de las estaciones by Tamara Chubarovsky (Penguin Random House), Las cinco máquinas del amor by Marta Prada (El Cep i la Nansa), El meu primer llibre de bolets (Estrella Polar), Mamitis by Marta Prada (Editorial Carambuco), Seven Clues: A Catholic Treasure Hunt by Scott Hahn & Maura Roan McKeegan (Loyola Press), Ja puc sortir de casa by Lourdes Campuzano (Mediterrània), Rut, l’estrangera que salva & Noé i el diluvi by Jesús Ballaz (Claret), Common Threads: Adam's Day at the Market by Huda Essa (Sleeping Bear Press), El senyor riu by Teresa Duran (Diputació de Barcelona), La meva primera comunió by Josep Codina (Editorial Claret), The Advent of Christmas by Matt Maher (Wellspring), El último violín by Anna Manso (Anaya Educación), Ja vaig a l'escola (Editorial Mediterrània), La meva primera comunió by Marta Minella (Publicacions de l'Abadia de Montserrat), El sendero de los ríos by Susanna Isern (Editorial GEU).
