Jeff Ebbeler has been creating art for children for almost a decade. He and his wife Eileen both attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati. After college he worked for a puppet theater sculpting marionettes and performing. He also created many large scale animal puppets for the Central Park Zoo. After moving to Chicago he got his first experience of working in the children's book industry as an Art Director at Publications International ltd for 6 years. He designed and occasionally illustrated books, as well as engineering pop-up books.|
He has since become a full time freelance illustrator and has illustrated over 40 children's books. He has given many lectures and demonstrations in grade-schools, colleges, and museums about the process of bringing words to life through pictures. Jeffrey and his family currently live in Cincinnati. He used to play drums and trumpet in several bands. Lately, he spends his free time with his twin daughters Olivia and Isabel. For the last few years he worked at a small desk surrounded by a play pen fence in the living room of his house. That way, he could work and help watch the twins, but they couldn't climb all over him and steal his brushes. We called it the Daddy Cage. Now that they are older and can climb over the play pen, he gets to work in his studio again.
