Nan grew up in Cape May, New Jersey, and studied advertising design at the University of the Arts (formerly PCA) in Philadelphia. Working first as a package designer, she soon moved on to freelance illustration. Her colorful and whimsical style lends itself equally to books for young children, such as her popular Little Golden Book, Princess and the Pea, and to broader-range illustrations with mythical themes, inspired to some extent by her interest in Eastern religions. Nan now lives outside of Chicago and enjoys gardening, traveling, and going to the opera. At right are two of her recent books, My Basket of Blessings: and many reasons to thank God by Mary Manz Simon (Standard Publishing) and The Unicorn Princess by Megan Bryant (Running Pr Book Pub).
