English artist Amanda Harvey first studied art as a teenager, but did not take it up again until after her first child was born, when she enrolled in the Chelsea School of Art. The first book she wrote and illustrated, A Close Call (Macmillan UK) was described by The London Times as "a flawless work of rare distinction." At top right Dog Days, Dog Eared and Dog Gone, which she both wrote and illustrated. Dog Eared has been awarded a Gold Medal by the National Parenting Publication Awards. Ms. Harvey also recently illustrated There's a Dragon Downstairs (Hodder, UK), by Hilary Mckay, which is shown at bottom right.
