Mirella was born in a small town called Giussano, not far from Milan where she currently still resides with her two children and cat. As a young child, she was always fond of reading books and drawing. Mirella was a huge fan of titles illustrated by Richard Scarry and all the Disney tales. She remembers having had subscriptions to Topolino (Mickey Mouse) magazine, Corriere dei Piccoli, and Il Giornalino, two important Italian magazines for kids with most prominent illustrators and comic artists at the time in Italy. As a result, her love of these magazines prompted her at a young age to start her own comics that she shared and was quite popular amongst her friends. It was not surprising that she attended an artistic high school in Monza and continued to study illustration and design at Civica Scuola Arte e Messaggio in Milan. When she graduated, her first job was with her primary school teacher who authored a book and recommended her to the publisher to illustrate it. She then continued to work with other important Italian publishers, magazines, and advertising agencies.

When not illustrating or being a mom, she loves spending her free time swimming, working out at the gym, riding a bike, and spending time outdoors, being close to nature. Maybe in the future she can reacquaint herself with horseback riding, another special dream she had as a kid!

Below are some of her recent projects, Flashcards Alfabeto Mimato (HEADU), A occhi chiusi by Elisa Mazzoli (Giunti), Il dottore dei numeri by Germano Pettarin (Einaudi Ragazzi), Anna dai capelli rossi by Lucy Maud Montgomery (Giunti Editore), L'orso pescatore by Gianni Rodari (Emme Edizion), 101 cose da fare per andare alle medie e uscirne vivi by Annalisa Strada (De Agostini), Il più piccolo, il più furbo! by Giuditta Campello (Emme Edizioni), Taj's Torch by Sue Graves (Franklin Watts), Chi c'è nella casetta? (Dami Editore), I tre porcellini & Hansel e Gretel by Lorella Flamini (Giunti Editore), It's My Body by Louise Spilsbury (Franklin Watts), The Big, Bad Box by Jo Franklin (OUP Oxford), Ninne nanne per dormire by Lodovica Cima (Lodovica Cima), Una storia in 5 minuti! series by Stefano Bordiglioni (Emme Edizioni), I perché degli animali & I perché della tecnologia by Giuliana Rotondi (Emme Edizioni) and Il mio piccolo Vivaldi & La magia di Beethoven by Lodovica Cima (Ape Junior).
